How Precious are Your Thoughts

I'm Back

Thought I had better write something soon. J commented that my blog seems to be heading down the same path as W’s, although W did mention that he's gonna blog about the recent victory of his beloved Liverpool soon… "P

Well, when I'm very busy and tired, blogging is not really something on my to-do list. Anyway, life has been flying by since my last entry. Been very bogged down with work and responsibilities in Ch. And I have probably announced (either verbally or otherwise) to the whole world my tiredness of it all. I NEED A BREAK! Ok, it seems as if it's not gonna be anytime soon unless I go on some retreat on my own. Ideally, the break should provide some rest and respite from the work, duties etc., that I may be able to spend lots of quality time with the Lord. I'll like to also take the time to consider the options ahead, and maybe switch line?? This thought has been on my mind for some time now, but I do find it tough to initiate change cos I'll really like to work it through very carefully. In this case, if I do switch, I'll like to do so graciously, and leave behind pleasant memories for all. Not an easy task, but I'll try, with God's help.

We had a family frisbee event with the school on Sat. Turnout was rather small, but I was encouraged by the number of helpers who turned up. I do hope that everyone has had a good time, sitting around, watching the game, playing with babies, participating in one way or another. I believe that the kids had great fun. Its amazing how they have no reservation sweating it out under the hot, scorching sun. I, for one, am very reluctant to be out in the sun. So I wasn't too forthcoming in volunteering to play, preferring to stay under the tentage. Eh, so sorry about that, W... Thank God for the fine weather. Shouldn't take it for granted, cos the very next day, it poured cats and dogs over the same area. But we managed to have our regular frisbee on Sun too, that is, after the rain... Just that it has not been too regular for me. Think its been several weeks since I last played the game. Enjoyed it still =) Sad to say, this is currently my only form of exercise, so I must keep at it!

On a lighter note, I'm really looking forward to doing some retail therapy. With the start of the GSS, when else could be a better time?? Come to think of it, there are actually many things that I'll like to buy, but have not done so. Better start jotting them down, and make plans to go get them soon.

Visitation

Just came back from visiting my relatives in KL. It has been a pleasant and relaxed short stayfor us - my parents and I. We left Sgp on Sat afternoon and arrived back last night. It was a trip initiated by my brother coz he had wanted to bring girlfriend to visit relatives. The gesture is quite remarkable and appreciated. As it turned out, there was a change in his plan very last minute and both of them did not join us for this trip. This turn of events upsetted me and my parents substantially. I feel that its quite irresponsible. Everyone went out of his way to accommodate his schedule, and then he changed his mind last minute. Of course, he has his reasons. But I really wonder how much does he value family ties and kinship.

We had earlier informed my aunt to arrange accommodation for us at her place. Well, apparently, news of my bro's gf impending visit spread like wild fire among my relatives. So many of them turned up at my aunt's place, hoping to meet her. But oh they were so so disappointed, especially my dear grandma. I guess that they have been waiting for this occasion for ages. I am so apologetic towards them, and I really can't explain my brother's choice. If only I can convey such deep regret to my brother, and tell him that he has "cried wolf" once. He should never treat their goodwill and concern flippantly, but cherish them and respond in love.

During this trip, we managed to meet 10 of my 12 aunts/uncles. My mum had a field day of chatting with them and getting updates on how each family member is doing. I'm always amazed at how well she gets along with them as their da-shao (eldest sister in law). Somehow, my parents have comanded their respect and love through the years.

While we were there, our typical activities were: -
- wake up
- have breakfast with relatives at some eatery
- walk walk, do some shopping
- gather at the home of someone to chat/relax
- go out for lunch in big group
- return to the house for afternoon tea/DVD/karaoke
- go out for dinner together
- converge at one house after that
We took the opportunity to celebrate Mother's Day for my grandma. The time of staying together was good, I cherish every moment of it. This also explains the amount of weight I put on during this period lah. Duh...

Thank God for preserving my grandparent's health. And also for the safe, relaxing, pleasant trip. Indeed, I will strive to build deeper relationships with my relatives in KL, especially the younger cousins. May I be a big sister figure to them and be able to share my life with them...
